Weekend in black and white

I was lucky enough to visit the municipal baths in Strasbourg this morning. A historical protected building, build between 1905 and 1908, reopening next Monday, after 3 years renovation. Complete with 2 inside pools, 1 outside pool, several saunas, hammam, roman baths, a salt wall sauna, 2 gyms, massage, healthy cooking courses... I'm probably forgetting something. Truly magnificent. More photos to come soon.(In colors!).

More b&w here, as usual.

Christmas is coming

The tree was put up yesterday. Once decorated, il will be the tallest Christmas tree in Europe, with its 30 meters. As usual. It will be ready for the opening of the Christmas market, on November 26th.

A great big mess

Cookbooks. Well, just a small part of them. Many more books... I really need to sort them out one day, reread them, give many away. It might take me a whole day. I will do it, no need to remind myself every 6 months. And I really should stop buying 5-10 books a month, more than I can actually read!

Anyway, more messy post here, for this month's CDP theme day.

Pinball

I can't remember the last time I saw one of those machines in a bar. Probably Paris, in the 80es. Anyway, I was happy seeing a few at a vintage fair last weekend. For sale, at truly gigantic prices. Hey, it's vintage!

Now, let's head back to my crazy youth. Nice boots, Elton me boyo!

Braving COVID

Holidays during the pandemic... I had to go away for a few days, cabin fever, lockdown... Last, it had to be Greece. Why Greece? Well, they had very few cases at that time. And I went to a small village in southern Crete, avoiding people. One year and a few months later: still alive and well, getting my third Pfizer jab in 2 weeks.

Local products

One of a kind vending machine in the central train station, selling fresh local Alsatian products: Sauerkraut, complete with potatoes and sausages, horseradish (aka "Alsatian wasabi"), goose liver, munster (a very smelly cheese), different sausages, jam... A gueter! Bon appétit!

Sunday 10 October 2021

Electric

Number 10 city bus, in front of the central train station. Strasbourg is a green municipality, all tramways and most busses run on electricity.

Pas un temps à mettre un chien dehors

Don't you hate it when your paws are getting wet?

The post title is a french expression: no weather to put a dog outside. Meaning: shite weather.

Not only for Christmas!

Traditional Alsatian kugelopf (many ways to write it), originally eaten for Christmas. You can get them (or make them) anytime and everywhere now. Either sweet, with raisins and almonds, or salty, with bacon bits and nuts. I love them both!
