Transparent

After too many years starring at too strong sunlight, after too many years starring at screens, I thought I needed new glasses. Fact is, I needed urgent eye surgery, cataract as I was going to lose my eyesight, which is not cool for a photographer... First eye 2 weeks ago, second yesterday. This is what I have to wear for 5 nights after each surgery. Oh good: I can read with it, it's transparent!

More b&w here, as usual.

And for  the City Daily Photo monthly theme day (theme: transparent, you guessed it), click here.

Clinique Rhena

Photo taken this morning, very early. I've spent a few hours there, having yet another cataract surgery, the second in 2 weeks. Well, a photographer needs to see, ain't that the truth! Nice brand new hospital, at the German border, friendly people. And it didn't cost me a single cent, taxis home included!

I just came across this old photo, from a holiday in Lebanon, a few years ago. This is where the big explosion happened, in August 2020, as seen from my hotel room.

Liquid fruit

Alsatian fruit brandies. Pear, cherries, raspberry, yellow mirabelle plum, quince. To be drunk with moderation!!! Specially with heatwave we're having here! They are quite expensive, but you can get them from  farmer in Germany, 4 miles away, for 10 to 12 euros.

More b&w here for your weekend. Enjoy!

Rue du chaudron

Cauldron street, near the cathedral. Called "novus vicus apud praedicatorum juxta domum liberorum quondam Philippi apothecari" in 1330 AD, "a new street with preachers near the house of the children of the the late Philip's storeroom".... Long name, but I suppose it was a good indication to the place, a kind of medieval GPS...

No parking!

What was a parking in front of the Temple Neuf a few days ago, is being transformed into a meeting area, with grassy hills, benches... Part of the city council's effort to bring nature in town.

Well, I am not a churchgoer. Except to admire the art and architecture. And to take photos, bien sur! This was yesterday, in the Freiburg cathedral, southern Germany. The young girls were part of a French school trip. France is just a few kilometers away, and so is Switzerland.

Fun at the Bächle

Daytrip to Freiburg im Breisgau, in the German Black Forest, 2 hours away. The Bächle , south-german word for a small brook or river, runs through the old town since 1220 AD, and is apparently  a font for infinite fun for youngsters.
