A Monday "mural"

Compared to other places, we don't have many murals in Strasbourg. But most mail boxes or electric boxes have been decorated. Many of them by local artist Jaek El Diablo.

Many more real murals here.

Climb the fence...

... at your own risk. A word of warning: this might hurt. They look almost like disused halberds.

Cataplanas reflections

A cataplana is an item of cookware used to prepare Portuguese seafood dishes, popular in the country's Algarve region. The cataplana is also the name of a typical dish down there.
As usual, more weekend reflections right...HERE

🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋

A few years ago, a group of locals decorated a pedestrian street in the city center, the aptly named "children's play street", rue du jeu des enfants. The whole streets, walls, they painted even the pavement. Good job!

More b&w here, for your weekend.

Vicus caecorum

Vicus caecorum in 1252, or blind street now. Rue des aveugles in French, Blindegässel in Alsatian (no, not German...) It describes my life pretty well. I have a bad case of cataract, waiting for an operation. The world is hazy. Oh well, I still can see enough to post, read, cook... Everything will be much clearer and brighter after the painless operation. Can't wait!

Open!

Good news! Since yesterday, you can have a drink on a terrace, without a mask, and without having to show a Covid pass! I think I'll have a coffee!

Presqu'ile Malraux

The central public library, aka médiathèque André Malraux, on the Austerlitz Bassin. The cranes are what remains of the old docks from past times.

The port

Strasbourg lies on several rivers and canals, the most famous being the Rhine. Small boats are not allowed on the Rhine, too dangerous. But on the canals, you can go west, north, to the Med 900 km away... Or you can just live on a boat. The big thing above is a tramway bridge.

Warmer times are coming

Can't wait! Hopefully without a mask...
Today is palindrome day! 22.02.2022. Can also be an ambigram. Waiting for 22.22 hours now.

Weekend in black and white

Should you be wondering, this is not some nasty virus: it is part of a lamp, from back in the 60es or 70es.

More b&w here, as usual

Not my style...

Every December, there is ca kind of... challenge: who will wear the ugliest Christmas sweater... Not my thing, as I prefer nice clothes. Would you wear this thing above?

A Swiss Monday Mural

Well, last week I went to see my dealer in Switzerland... My drugs: chocolate and cheese! And as always: looking for murals. Like this one. And btw, yesterday's cheese fondue was pure bliss!

More Monday Murals needed? It's here.

Minster

A better view of the Basel minster. Founded in 1019 AD, it is 4 years younger then the Strasbourg cathedral. Excuse my chauvinism... 😂

Jean Tinguely's fountain

A nice day out in Basle/Bale/Basel/Basilea, the city with any names in Switzerland/Suisse/Svizzera/Schweiz/Schwyz. Correct me if I forgot something... lol.

Anyway, there is this very nice and artistic fountain next to the Minster.

And I thought the moon was bigger...

It was called "the museum of the moon', central piece of an art exhibition last June in Strasbourg. A 7 meters inflatable moon inside our cathedral, based on NASA photos... Well, why not; after all.

No black tower (it's actually blue), although... The theme for February is: power. This is the European Central Bank. Need I say more?

Well, don't.

Well, what can I say... Try not to fall in the river while showing your love to someone by putting yet another padlock... Or by putting yet another sticker on the buoy...

Green drink

At one of the side entrances of the Tiburtina railway station in Rome. Looks almost radioactive.
