Kanoni

Right at the end of Corfu airport, the Vlacherna monastery on the Kanoni peninsula. The monks left in 1980, too many tourists probably, and far too noisy. I went there early. When I left, around 10 AM, I counted a dozen tour busses, a few hundreds unmasked Italians... Not good.

The love channel

In Sidari, 40 km north of Corfu town, you can find true love... According to the legend, anyway. The beach is called Canal d'Amour, in French (I couldn't find out why). More about it here.

A Greek/Russian Monday mural. Cheers!

Well, I went to Greece last week, once again. The island of Corfu. And this is the only mural I could find, in an ocean of graffiti. Does not look very Greek, does it...

More Monday Murals here. Cheers, comrades! Nazdarovya!

Weekend in black and white

I needed a break, I needed a trip to Greece. So, one week in Corfu, without a computer! I am fully vaccinated!
As I tend to avoid tourist hotspots, I always go to the backstreets. One of the gems I found there.

Want more b&w this weekend (or later)? Click here.

Finally on the road again!

Away for a while, without a computer, after being stuck at home for a long long time... Not sure if I'll be able to post anything. Anyway, this airplane is a perfect tool for some sunny holidays on a Greek beach, lol!
More tools here, on the CDP theme day page.

Culture behind bars

During lockdown in France, all shops dealing in culture, books, music, theaters, cinemas, etc, were closed. Oh, there was a way... Making some online billionaires even richer. Thankfully, I had enough books to last a long time.

Sans faire de vagues

Without making waves, by Gaëtan Gromer, another work at this year's The magnificent Industry exhibition. Life-sized sharks, with amputated fins, making a noise every time one shark is thrown back into the sea, mutilated. Shark fins are very popular in some countries... I wasn't the only one taking photos. Hello, colleague!

L'industrie magnifique is the name of a monumental  art exhibition all around town, from June 3rd till June 13th. Will show you more as soon as I take the photos. This is called Terre de Ciel, earth of heaven, by Patrick Bastardoz, made of bricks, roof tiles and metal. It's about the tower of Babel. See below...

The old municipal grain store

Build in 1441, restored in 2002, the building is a huge 130 meters long. It helped the city manage it's subsistance policy in terms of combating food shortage and grain speculation. Nowadays,  it houses workshops, rehearsal and music studios on the Opéra National du Rhin, Rhine National Opera.
