Waiting for Macron

A restaurant and a hotel. Both closed. Second lockdown in France. We are millions waiting for the French president to announce (hopefully good) news tonight at 8 pm.

A shithead did it

Hundreds, maybe thousands of discarded masks on our streets here.... I went to the baker this morning, 400 meters away, I saw 7 discarded masks. My feelings? Furious, sad.

Coming to your screens from Padova, Italy! A strange (for me) mixture of old and new.

More weekend reflections to your perusal right...here

Antifa

A picture close to my heart... Antifa means bad things in some countries (USA...), but what is Antifa? People fighting fascism, fighting hate. And this is GOOD!!! This is what we all need to do!

The watery fire station

Most firemen in France are volonteers, but not in Marseille  and Paris, where they are army units, called sapeurs pompiers, sapper firemen. More about this here.

Quais de Seine

Haven't been to Paris this year. Sigh. I normally go there at least twice a year, only 2 hours away by train.

Students

Students from the Scuola Navale Militare Francesco Morosini (military navy school) in Venice on their way to town by vaporetto. Looking smart!

They canceled Christmas

The mayor of Strasbourg, Madame Jeanne Barseghian, in view of the ever worsening pandemic in town, decided to reduce the yearly Christmas market to it's simplest expression: a big tree, lights, and not much else. No chalets, no market, no Vin Chaud... And many businesses going bankrupt.

It should have marked the 450th anniversary, uninterrupted since 1570 AD, even during wars.

1200 years

One more photo from my trip to Molsheim, 20 km away, last summer. Molsheim is a youngish town by european standards, barely 1200 years old.

Wednesday, 14 October 2020

This is not a painting!

No, they are some flowers and plant, seen last summer in the immediate surroundings.

A Monday Mural

Spotted near the archaeological museum in Herakleion, Crete, Greece. The name of the street, Agiou Titoy, or Saint Tite (or Titus), refers to the saint protector of the town. And the mural is about the minoan civilization.
