August CDP theme day: garden

My favorite type of gardens... No maintenance or TLC needed... Everything I plant dies, except cacti. This is the huge cactus garden on Montjuic hill in Barcelona.

More garden photos here

A window, part 2

Same house as Sunday, other window, with a stork and the Alsatian flag.

Going for a boat tour

Tourist going for an one hour and 10 minutes boat tour along the Ill river. A nice way to see the town. I did it once, with a foreign friend, and I enjoyed it! It will cost you 14.90 euros, for an adult.

Bath time

After weeks of heatwave with a few short thunderstorms, October weather is on this week: rain, under 20 degrees C. Sheer bliss! Well, maybe not for tourists or holiday makers.
Oops, sorry, this is Thursday's post, I thought today was Friday ... Newly retired guy's life: no Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays.... It's all the same, mostly, just ....days. Anywho and anyway, here we go, just click here to see more gorgeous b&w. Just do it, you won't regret it! The never-ending weekend (for some) starts right now!

Rain, finally!

Scorching heat in the south of Europe. Not here, it finally rains. Bliss! Reminded me of a rainy summer holiday week in southern Portugal, with just a little sunshine.

No fireworks

No fireworks in Strasbourg this year on our fete nationale, aka Bastille Day, July 14th. Everything is far too dry. So, here is a shot from 2 years ago, taken from my balcony, 4 km away, cropped.

The place to be

It is very hot, up to 37 degrees C, or 99 F. So, lunch on the riverside is a very good idea! Something light.

Bubble bear

Somewhere in Alsace/Elsass. More beautiful b&w right... here
Even though my first name, Robert, is pronounced Ro-bear in French, this is not a selfie!😁

Bassin d'Austerlitz

A former port for barges, now a big complex with a cinema, parking lot, restaurants, shopping mall, flats. The towers at the rear are for student housing.

CDP July theme day: climate

Well ok, this is an Imoca 60, a very nice way to go around... the world, if you have the time (and the money) for it. Or a sponsor.
Why this photo??? There is an engine on board, but it is mainly wind powered. There are more and more wind powered cargo ships, some of them gigantic, like the Japanese MOL, the French Canopée, the Swedish Oceanbird, an American whose name I forgot, to quote just a few. There are solar powered ships as well. Wind- and solar power are the future, furthermore as there is no planet B.

More posts and photos about this theme here. And more weekend reflections right... here.

Angry lion

After almost 2 rainless months, we finally had some small thunderstorms. The lion is thirsty, the lion wants more!

Down by the riverside

Earlier this spring. It's much hotter now! The river running through Strasbourg is called Ill. Not sick, just Ill.

Pont Saint Martin

An old 16th century tannery, now a restaurant since the early 20th century. They serve mainly typical Alsatian food, they a good rating. As for me, it's a bit on the (too) expensive side.
