Sophie Henriette Gertrude Taeuber-Arp
Oh well, let's call her Sophie. A friend of Kandinsky, Miro, Picasso, Duchamp. She lived in Strasbourg, with her husband Jean (Hans) Arp. Dada, surrealism, concrete art...

The Kandinsky room
Hi there. I could not post yesterday, Had to go to my old computer's burial. Now, I am trying to get familiarized with a french keyboard, bewilderingly weird.
Now then. Wassily Kandinsky has always been one of my top fav artists. And oh joy, he has his own room at the musée of modern art!!!

New!
This is unique, It is the newest 'vitrail', stained-glass window, in the cathedral. There are 2 of them, will show you the other one as soon as I found a way to put a 5 meters tall window in a photo, without breaking my neck.
What's special about this one...The face is composed of photos of 150 anonymous inhabitants of our fair city. This photo were sepia-colored, and somehow transposed into glass tiles. At a cost of 200.000 euros, to celebrate the cathedral's millennium, in 2015. The picture was taken from a 15th century painting. Amazing thing.

The pillar of angels - Le Pilier des Anges
And this is what yesterday's little jealous guy was looking at...
The Pillar is a representation of the Last Judgement, and is situated in the south transept, just next to the astronomical clock, to which I will come back... one day.

The man on the railing - L'homme de la balustrade
Another curious figure is this man leaning on a railing. Legend says that he is an architect, jealously watching what his competitor had built.

Is it a horse or a bird??? Cheval ou oiseau???
Created by the Italian Mimmo Paladino, his head is covered with real gold. The city of Strasbourg bought it 20 years ago for 250 millions italian lire, quite a lot. 4 meters tall, it stands on the roof of the Museum of Modern Art, and is called 'Hortus Conclusus', which means 'enclosed garden'. Don't ask me why.
No, really don't.

Serena, Barney, Helmut, Rose, Princesse & Gordon, la menagerie
Sometimes, it's hard for me to differentiate between a graffiti and a painting. Let us call this... art. The artist in this case is called Delphine Harrer.
Difficile de differencier graffiti and toile.

As I mentioned it last week, trying to have a more artistic flair for this new blog of mine. Basically, having fun! I used Adobe Lightroom 5.7, NIK and Topaz filters.

445 years and counting... 445 ans deja!
Since 1670, we have the yearly chritmas market, one of the biggest in Europe, Chrstkindlsmarik in alsatian. The city center is worth seeing, some very original decorations...
