No fireworks

No fireworks in Strasbourg this year on our fete nationale, aka Bastille Day, July 14th. Everything is far too dry. So, here is a shot from 2 years ago, taken from my balcony, 4 km away, cropped.

A former port for barges, now a big complex with a cinema, parking lot, restaurants, shopping mall, flats. The towers at the rear are for student housing.

CDP July theme day: climate

Well ok, this is an Imoca 60, a very nice way to go around... the world, if you have the time (and the money) for it. Or a sponsor.

Why this photo??? There is an engine on board, but it is mainly wind powered. There are more and more wind powered cargo ships, some of them gigantic, like the Japanese MOL, the French Canopée, the Swedish Oceanbird, an American whose name I forgot, to quote just a few. There are solar powered ships as well. Wind- and solar power are the future, furthermore as there is no planet B.
