The island of San Michele, in the Venice laguna, halfway between Fondamenta Nuove and Murano The whole island is actually Venice's graveyard. The statue is called la chiatta di Dante, or Dante's gondola, by Russian sculptor Georgy FrangulyanIt depicts Dante and Virgil, going to the afterlife.
