Cold feet?

As I'm getting older, cold feet becomes a common occurrence. Specially when seeing the birdies... Wonder if they too have cold feet?
Anyway, we have a big swan colony on the canals and rivers in Strasbourg.

Holidays, anybody?

It's freezing cold here, day temperatures negative, despite of the sun. Traveling back in time and in space, Bassano del Grappa, northern Italy, June 2018, home of the grappa. Or to the early 80 es, in my case... Had a girlfriend there.

Weekend in black and white

Photo taken a few hundert years ago. The clock is/was part of my secret time traveling device. Not a word to anyone, or I shall be obliged to meeting you tomorrow morning at 6 outside the city gate, for a pistol duel. You might want to bring a witness.
More recent b&w photos here.

Tomi Ungerer

Ungerer was the best internationally known strasbourgeois artist. This is in the garden of, you guessed it, the Tomi Ungerer museum. More about the museum here.

?

On the quai des Bateliers, near the cathedral, there is very old this house, with an unusual decoration. I was unable to find any info about it, but it reminds me of the indianos in Barcelona...

My City Daily Photo of the year

Not my best photo this year, but one of my favorites: kids having fun. This was at the carnival in Valletta, Malta, last February.

Kaufhaus Modern

The oldest department store in town. Built by Germans, called first Kaufhaus Modern, modern department store, then  Magmod, (or Magmo, as most people used to say, forgetting the D at the end), now Galeries Lafayette. Selling mostly expensive brands nowadays

Everything around here is dark and grey. Here is some much needed color.

Weekend in black and white

Probably the most famous tree in town! Le platane de la Petite France, a plane tree in it's prime, only 352 years old. A good place to have a drink. During summer, that is, not now, unless of course you are wearing a heated diving suit.
More b&w here.

(Not so) Heavenly sounds

Well, not heavenly to me... I really don't like most Christmas muzak!!! With a few exceptions. Definitely nothing I can hear in town. Fortunately (for me anyway), the people in charge took the decision to mute the muzak. GOOD!!!

River fortress...

Strasbourg is a fortress right now. We've had a terrorist attack last year during the Christmas market, a guy killed 5 people. So, the city center, an island in the river Ill, is secured. Thousands of police, army, other guards in town. Most bridges are closed, to enter the center, you have to open your bags and coats. Queuing up to 15 minutes. 3 weeks to go. This is one of the few access points.
