Glendalough

A wonderfully misty and frosty afternoon near Glendalough, Wiklow mountains, Ireland. Eire. This weekend, Ireland (the republic) elects its next president. And also, they will have to decide if blasphemy is still a crime in Ireland...
More weekend in b&w here.

Indian summer

Summer is over, and so is indian summer. We're back to normal temperatures, but still no rain... Major drought in France, many rivers are dry. And I mean totally dry, not a drop of water anymore. I've never seen the Rhine river that low.

The not that young Saint Peter

churches bear the name St Peter "something". This is one is the protestant Young St Peter's church. Young, because it is the youngest of the 3. Young being pretty relatives, as parts of the crypt date back to St Colomban, a small 7th century chapel. As I said, "young" is relative, not only for churches.

Smoking hot!

Yesterday, I went to the mid-sized town of Offenburg, 25 km away, in Germany. They had a "hamburger fish market". The hamburgers were citizens of Hamburg, far up north, no meat anywhere around... lol
Smoked mackerel and potato salad... Heavenly.

Indian summer

While storm Leslie ravages Portugal and parts of Spain, we enjoy a warm summer day. In October.  While 2/3 of France is fast turning into a desert, no rain for many months...

Wedding photo shoot in black and white

Ciao! Last Tuesday, during my customary visit to the Duomo in Milan, I came upon this couple, surrounded by a small army of people armed with professional looking photo gear. Some celebs? I don't know But I'm wishing them a happy life! And no, this is not Captain Picard of the USS Enterprise!
More b&w here, as usual.

A Monday Mural, on Tuesday, for a change

Ciao from Milano, Italia. A delayed Monday mural, as I was travelling the whole day yesterday.
An antifascist mural near Milano Lambrate train station, as Italy is turning very unfortunately into a fascist regime, in my opinion. Until there is a change in government, as usual in Italy... 61 governments since 1945...

Monthly theme day: change

Change... Well, the weather is definitely changing, no more sweltering heat, I even started wearing socks again, believe or not! No more sandals this year.
Anyway, you may notice the part about me being an eternal nomad on my header pic. Therefore, as I have a little CHANGE, and as I need a CHANGE, I'm going to Italy tomorrow, for a few days. Gonna start my Christmas shopping early for a CHANGE, instead of the usual last minute run...

Sunny Palais U

The Palais Universitaire, old imperial university, neo-Renaissance building, built by the Germans between 1879 and 1884. The architect, Otto Warth, was very inspired by Italy.
Nowadays, it still is the main university building, largely administrative for the 64000 students. This weeks, it is hosting a musical event, based on 80es music.

Việt Nam

I recently went to a fair, which had, among many others things, Vietnamese handicraft, music, dance and food. As a lover of things Asian , I couldn't miss this! Lots of things I love about the country, the people, the culture, the food... The music? Guess you have to be used to it.
And I love the fact that they threw both French and American invaders out! Well done, Viet Nam!

A Monday Mural, by Dan23

There is a small zoo in town, but without zebras... So far!
3 days... Dan23, the most prolific street artist in town, started this mural last Friday. It was supposed to be finished by Sunday, but we had a massive wind storm yesterday (Florence was here). So... I didn't have the time to check on it today, but I'll show you the entire mural... next week.
And this is Dan himself, nice guy. He has the city's permission to paint wherever he likes, which I think is pretty unique, in this rather conservative town!
His website is here, and there is a lengthy and very interesting interview here. Both are in french, you might need (or not) a translation tool.
More exciting Monday Murals here, in Sami's very colourful world.

Assault rifle on front. Well, this is Strasbourg as well, as France is subjected to terrorist attacks. Groups of at least 3 soldiers, always patrolling.

Route 66

Well, we have a Route 67 here, aka the Route des vins, vineyard road. French departements have a name, and also a number. Strasbourg is the capital city of the Bas Rhin (lower Rhine) departement, or 67.
This is something else. During the 86th European Trade Fair, right here, right now, they organised a route 66 exhibition.Et voila. Enjoy your tomato soup.

Ready to take over!

You never really know what's under your feet... Cables, water (there in a underground lake under the cathedral!), rats, tunnels... Or animals, ready to take over your balcony!

Post 777, which is also my favorite wide-body plane. Just saying. Carry on.
