Cherubs or demons?

I guess they are supposed to be cherubs, little angels on this fountain in Florence. But for me, they look downright evil.
Good or evil, black or white... More b&w here.

    Perhaps they were cherubs once, but time has changed their character. Had to smile at seeing your photo.
