Hi folks, I'm in Porto, Portugal, home of the port wine!
Gustave Eiffel not only built a tower, but he was a bridge builder as well. The Don Luis the 1st bridge, here in Porto.
I also decided to christen the seagull... He didn't fly away when I came with my camera, he seemed to want to be on the picture. So, birdie, I name you Gustave. Live long and prosper.
Vida longa a você e Gustavo. Bons passeios!
ReplyDeleteI like the bridge's style. Gustave looks confident and sure of himself.
ReplyDeleteExcellent photo! The bridge does look like the tower.
ReplyDeleteI envy you! I love port wine. As a former Lutheran pastor, we used port wine in our services. I always got to finish the chalice. Sometimes, that almost finished me. :) Love this photo, too. I'm sure I knew Eiffel built bridges but I'd forgotten. It does remind one of the tower - laying on its side. The bird, though, that's what makes this shot so great. Gustave knew you were a good guy and that he'd get some international notoriety.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I also go by the name of Jacob Anson - a pen name and that's what shows up on Google. Just thought you should know.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo Rob, and love the bird posing for you.
ReplyDeleteLove this happy picture, a great way to start a Monday morning. Bonjour, Gustave or maybe, Bom dia, Gustave.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous look at this old photo. You couldn't have picked a better and more fun post to share as a second look. Yes, I knew Eiffel was a bridge builder and he built many bridges before he gave us the famed Eiffel Tower. I think I would rather see this great bridge and that charming bird any day. Everyone knows what the tower looks like. Not everyone (myself included) have seen this example of his bridge work. Thank you for sharing this incredible second look on the 2nd.
