Tirana, Albania, 2 weeks ago. 9.30 AM at the Skanderbeg square, the main square in town. Close to 40 degrees C already... Wish I could have joined them...

Bretzel Airlines
You know Air France, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines, and so on... But do you know Bretzel Airlines, the one and only one? No?
Well, it is not actually an airline, but a shop where you can buy funny shirts, mugs, bags, etc, all with an Alsatian theme.About bretzels (with a B here!), wine, tartes flambées...
Have a look on thheir airline shop, french only, here.
And no, they're not paying me in any way! Just a good place for funny presents.
God save the bretzel!

Një mur i hënës, a Monday Mural in Albania
An Albanian mural. The municipality of Tirana welcomes street artists, they even issued a booklet explaining some of the murals, in both Albanian and English. Not this one.

Weekend in black and white, or where Richard the Lionheart meets an iron throne in Qarth
Absolutely beautiful island, with a rich history...Lokrum Island, just 600 meters from Dubrovnik, Dalmatia, Croatia. Yesterday.
According to the legent, King Richard was shipwrecked here in 1192. There is also something of an insane queen, the emperor of Mexico, and lots of peacocks and dangerous rabbits. Read on, here.
Incidentally, for the lovers of such things, the city of Qarth stood here. You know, the one from Game of Thrones. Haven't seen a single episode, but I have a photo of te iron throne.
I read the books though!!!
Anyway, it's the weekend, and it's black and white.

Well hello again from Tirana, Albania! Tirana is an absolute dream for street art lovers! It's EVERYWHERE!!!
This is by Serbian artist Artez, do not judge. There is a lock on the bicycle, does he steal it, did he loose the key, what's happening???

A weekend reflection
As a former burger of Amsterdam, I got used to see the many big I love Amsterdam signs all around town.
But this not Amsterdam, this is Tirana, capital of Albania, aka Shqiperia. I went this morning to the monumental Skanderbeg square, the centre of Tirana. But wtf is Chameria??? It's complicated! Have a look here.
And here as well, many more reflections to be found..
HOT here!!!

On the blue again
Well, this is not Strasbourg (I wish).
"How inappropriate to call this planet Earth when it is quite clearly Ocean". Arthur C. Clarke
Why are we so attracted to the ocean? Maybe because that's were we came from...
Anyway, this is the Ionian Sea, between Greece and Albania. Enjoy!

Now this, dudes and dudettes (dudesses?) is the ayuntamento, the city hall in Barcelona. Right, you've been there, you know it doesn't look like this. Well, it does, every summer evening, when they do a light show.

Canicule
Canicule, french for heat wave. Come from the latin, small female dog, something to do with the Big Dog, aka Sirius, the star, supposed to provoke it.
Anyway, at 7.45 ¨M, it's still 35 degrees, 95 F. Stay cool, find shady courtyard, drink lots.
Bad news. it's getting even hotter. This is the hottest June since 1947, or so they say.

Another piece by local artist Dan23. It's some kind of electric box. You'd be hard pressed to find an unpainted one in town, lol.

We sell
I'm always amazed, sometimes amused, sometimes aghast by the things some are willing to buy in some ultra-tourist places... This is Michaelangelo's David in Florence, Tuscany, btw. Well, just a tiny piece of him.
Would you buy this??? I wouldn't. No f...ing way.

Weekend in black & white
Early this morning at the Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome, Roma, la citta eterna. Tom Hanks went into some trouble there... :-)
My first time in Rome, after over 35 years... One bit of advice, maybe... AVOID THE METRO AT ALL COST!!! It is somewhere between abysmal and catastrophic, an utter disgrace.
Well, as usual, take a look at the Dragonstar's den, over there.
And you will enjoy more reflections here.

Weekend in black and white
I took this photo on a very chilly -close to freezing actually- April morning, at around 6.30 or 7 am, looking for coffee. In Venice. So, I guess this guy and his dog might have been going to work, in the San Polo area of town.
As St Mark is the holy patron of Venice, many many (and many more) men are called Marco. So this might well be Marco, from San Polo... Well, in San Polo anyway.
I finally found an open bar shortly after . Un espresso per piacere, Signore!
To my great joy, I'll be back there in a few days. Venezia is like home to me.
More b&w here.

Purple
The color purple= problem! I am partially color blind, so I can't really recognize purple. Not good for a photographer! Well, I'll try it anyway
This might be purple, or maybe not, you decide. I just don't know.

Post 1000
The feline equivalent to internet spyware...lol
1000th post for this blog, many more on my other blogs. I'm fighting a blogger's block, it's getting hard. Henceforth, I will carry on posting, but less regularly. I started blogging in Dublin, in December 2006, and I need a break.
No worries, Dragonstar's b&w crew, you'll see me every Friday! You'll see me here, but not necessarily on this Strasbourg blog of mine.
