October theme day: my response to COVID

You live only once... I was supposed to fly to Istanbul in march, on a gastronomical holiday, but my flights were cancelled. So, let's cook Turkish and other foreign food at home! Nevertheless, to fight cabin fever, I travelled when it became possible, Croatia in August, Crete in September, always checking the COVID stats before. Gorgeous food in both countries!

More COVID responses here.

  1. we miss travel as well however given our age we will delay travel until after a vaccine. Our daughter and family have taken a different approach. They have booked a flight to Hawaii and plan to spend five weeks in a vacations rental. Interestingly the airline, she used, now has rapid testing to insure all on the flight are not infected with the virus.

Cooking, new meals, has become one of our pass times as well.

  4. Add gravy to the fries and cheese and you've got poutine.

  5. I've been afraid to travel. Too many people are careless here.

  6. I thoroughly checked before travelling: less than 200 deaths in Croatia, and not a single case or death in Crete. I was masked, and I respected social distancing whenever possible. I got a light cold, but it was because of the AC in one hotel in Rethymno, Crete.

  7. Ahh, I dream of the day we can travel again. Our borders are closed which has kept the virus out and us firmly in. Thanks heavens we can eat out as my food looks nothing like yours.
