Spiridon, the malacologist

Špiro (or Spiridon) Brusina was a croation malacologist (study of mollusks). His statue in on the seafront, in the old town of Zadar. A little more about him here.
Nice beard by the way!

When in Rome...

Well, this is not Rome, this is in Pula, Istria, Croatia. One of the many amphitheatres built by Rome, all around the Med. This one is called the Pula Arena, the 6th largest among the 200  or so surviving amphitheatre. More about it here.

So, I went to Croatia for a week, Istria and Dalmatia. I didn't actually walk on water, I took planes, coaches, trains and a boat. Kept me (almost) dry, albeit sweaty.
