Matryoshka

One of the very few Russian restaurants in town. Notice the Ukrainian flag...

In French, the name Putin is spelled Poutine. Poutine is the also the name of a yummy French-Canadian dish . Guess what? Some restaurants serving it got hate mails... And many Russian restaurants as well.

A loooong Monday mural

Panorama photo, it is not actually curvy. Author unknown, spotted in an area of Strasbourg where only rarely go. I love it!

More Monday Murals right...here.

A weekend reflection

The Mediterranean sea. Wish I was there, on this hit summer day. Anyway, more weekend reflections to be seen here.

Let's (not) sing!

A Japanese import, getting more and more popular here. This box is in a shopping mall, next to a C&A. You won't see me there, as the guards would kick me out. I rather sing in my shower, all doors and windows closed: safer for me and my neighbors...

There be dragons

There are a lot of mythical creatures in town, mainly gargoyles. But only a few dragons. Here is one at the international school, aka Hogwarts (Poudlard in French).

OPO

Welcome to OPO, aka Porto Airport, officially Aeroporto Francisco Sa Carneiro. Old photo, wish I was there, enjoying a nice francesinha and a glass of ...

More weekend reflection to be seen here.

Friday 6 May 2022

Oldtimer

Old cars, like this one, were far more classy than today's boxes on wheels.

More b&w here this weekend.

Thursday 5 May 2022

The artist

Well, I don't think the celebs depicted ever posed for him. But you never know, the policeman might be their bodyguard... Or not.

Under the sea

We are far from any sea. At least, that's what I thought... I decided not to swim with these guys.

More Monday Mural right...HERE.

Sunday 1 May 2022

Shadows

May day CDP theme day: shadows, down by the river. Many more shadowy photos to be seen and admired right here.

Friday 29 April 2022

Sea of straws

My old home 20 years ago, on the shores of the Mar de Palha. In other words, Liboa/Lisbon/Lissabon/Lisbonne, depending on where you are from. If you've never been there, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR???? OK, I might be biased, as  love the place, the people, the food, the coffee... A nice bica with my pastel de Belem: heaven.

Anyway, more b&w here.

A Monday Mural

As most of Strasbourg is a world heritage site (2 actually), street art can be done in the outskirts. Here are some utility boxes, near the international exhibition area. Wanna see more murals? Click HERE.

Cherubs or demons?

I guess they are supposed to be cherubs, little angels on this fountain in Florence. But for me, they look downright evil.
Good or evil, black or white... More b&w here.

Wednesday 20 April 2022

Colors

Add some cushions, a small table, friends, coffee... Or tea, for some.

Tuesday 19 April 2022

Naughty!

An army of naughty dwarves showing me the finger. I chose not to be offended.

Sunday 17 April 2022

About 170

About 170 bridges over rivers and canals in Strasbourg. Small number compared to the 438 Venice bridges, but hey, they have more canals than we do!

Saturday 16 April 2022

Waiting for tourists

The boarding places for the sightseeing boats going around the canals. The tourists are coming back, fortunately, after 2... strange years.

Friday 15 April 2022

Hello, bunnies, looks like Easter!

You know the drill: more b&w for the weekend here.

Happy Easter, joyeuses Pâques, frohe Ostern!

Thursday 14 April 2022

A lamp?

OK, quite frankly, I don't remember taking this photo. I haven't been back to Venice since the start of Covid, and I usually hundreds of photos every time I go there, which is 3-4 times a year. Anyway,  suppose it is a quite intricate lamp. What do you think

Old photo. The cathedral is still being repaired, hopefully reopening in 2025

Blooming magnolia

Whenever I see magnolias, I know: spring has arrived!
Free earworm!
I know... It's awful... I have sometimes (very rarely though) an evil streak... LOL

A Monday Mural

Weird beastie...Is it eating the tree, or does the tree come out of it??? Or trying to grow a lemon tree in a ...is it a fish??? This reminds me of a famous Hieronymus Bosch painting.
The text above, le sans pépins, means the seedless one. With or without seeds, I like lemon juice on my fish. If it's a fish, of course...
Anyway, do you want to see more murals? Easy, just click here!

Saturday 2 April 2022

A town hall

Basel, Switzerland, has a unique, 16th century town hall. Originally painted by Hans Holbein around 1522.

Friday 1 April 2022

Weekend reflection in black and white

One more shot from a stroll in the Orangerie park, by almost summerly weather. Well, snow expected here tonight and tomorrow, the first, and hopefully last for this past winter.

More b&w here, as usual on Friday. And more reflection posts here.

It is the CDP theme day as well, about symmetry. Have a look!
